OPERATIONS MANAGER (MATERNITY LEAVE COVERAGE)

Location: Vancouver, BC / Remote. Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Schedule: Flexible, full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Compensation: Salary ($58,000-$60,000 annually, dependent upon experience)

Term: November 2023 - January 2025

JOB SUMMARY

Sanctuary is looking for an individual who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for the organization’s overall financial and operations functions. The Operations Manager, under the direction of the Director, Operations will effectively manage the development and directions of the operational team to drive growth, productivity, and a high level of satisfaction among our donors and users.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations, managing the organization’s HR (People and Culture) and Health and Safety, and participating in the creation of annual organizational and program budgets. Working with leadership and board, the role also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies, and practices. The Operations Manager directly supervises administrative staff.

Please note that this is a maternity leave coverage contract.

JOB SUMMARY

Sanctuary is looking for a senior leader for maternity leave coverage to, with the CEO, guide the organization strategically through a dynamic season of growth. If you have an operations background, a strong understanding of and proven experience with change management, and a passion for people-first culture, we would like to meet you.

The Director, Operations is primarily responsible for providing leadership of organizational culture and holistic sustainable pacing through strategic plans and financial oversight. In addition, the Director, Operations is key in establishing best practices as Sanctuary continues to welcome its UK and US charities into the fold. This role reports to the CEO. In collaboration with the CEO, the Director, Operations oversees the Director, Communications, Director, Programs, Director, Development, Engagement Manager, Data Systems Manager, and Operations Manager. This role leads the leadership team with the CEO and relates with the board as the primary developer and collaborative implementer of organizational strategies.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Administrator and Bookkeeper will be responsible for providing day-to-day bookkeeping to the organization, managing the Sanctuary office, acting as the first point of contact for anyone reaching out to the organization, maintaining organized and accurate documentation, and providing general administrative support to the team.

UK BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER

Location: Sanctuary UK; Waverley Ln, Farnham GU9 8EP

Note: the role is non-stipendiary, though basic expenses may be covered.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are seeking strategic support from a trustee with fundraising experience as Sanctuary UK enters its fourth year. The ideal person will have a substantial background as a senior charity fundraiser with a sound understanding and experience of charity fundraising at strategic and operational levels. All members of the Board are involved in giving strategic direction to the charity, setting overall strategy and policy, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
